The best technique to treat cavities in your teeth is with dental fillings. It’s a quick, easy treatment that can be completed over your lunch hour and is very popular in Australia.

In addition to enhancing your oral health and protecting your teeth from further harm, a filling will also relieve any pain or discomfort brought on by the cavity, enabling you to smile with greater health and happiness.

The majority of Australians (over 90%) have permanent teeth that have decay, making dental fillings one of the most frequently performed dental operations in the nation.

What are dental fillings?

If you have a cavity in a tooth, it signifies that the tooth’s centre has a hole in it. There are several reasons why these gaps are bad.

Your teeth’s nerves may be exposed by cavities, which could result in anything from slight discomfort from increased sensitivity to hot and cold food and drink to severe pain from nerve damage. Additionally, if the nerve dies, you might require a more extensive treatment, like a root canal, to save the tooth.

Additionally, tooth weakness brought on by cavities increases the risk of subsequent chipping, cracking, and destruction.

To prevent pain, discomfort, and future harm to the tooth and your general dental health, the hole will need to be cleaned and repaired with a “filling” In addition to composite resin, gold, and porcelain, these fillings can also be manufactured from a substance known as “amalgam” (more on these materials below).

Your dentist will advise you on the best course of action for your teeth, which usually depends on where the tooth that requires a filling is located. You can then jointly choose the best filling material
